Heroes of Faith – Gustav Psyrembel – Executed

The following excerpts are taken from the book, And Follow Their Faith HEROES OF FAITH IN OUR TIME “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the…

Bible Prophecy Update: Pope and Evangelicals meet in Rome

In the March edition of Good Tidings E-News (#28) we reported on a landmark meeting between Pope Francis and Pentecostal Bishop Tony Palmer appealing for unity amongst Christians. At a later meeting of Charismatic Christians in Texas, Tony Palmer went on to proclaim that the Protestant Reformation is over and appealed for Christian’s, both Catholic and Protestant, to unite. We noted in that article that by this appeal for unity in Christendom, recognising all as brothers and sisters under the…
Dumaguit Family

My Conversion – Mercy Dumaguit

I was raised in a devoted Roman Catholic family.  When I was 8 years old, my mum used to train me to do the holy rosary and some other readings of the lives of the saints every night from seven to eight o’clock and sometimes longer.  One day, I secretly talked to Virgin Mary asking her to give me an easier way of going to heaven, but she didn’t answer me.  Time passed, and I waited for the answer with…

During the last couple of weeks in Australia, we have heard much about the new budget which was delivered by the current Treasurer.  Everyone is interested in how this will affect their life, their children’s lives and so on, generating much talk about the pros and cons of the financial plans made for the future. Whenever the subject of money is brought up, it seems to get the attention of people from all walks of life, some in a positive…

Optimal Health Outreach

It was a good turnout for the Optimal Health Seminar and workshop held at Schofields Church Sunday 18th May 2014, with about 50 people attending. Brother Alasdair Pow gave the first presentation on “Optimal Nutrition” inspiring us to eat well of the healthier foods and avoid the harmful foods that add centimetres to our waistlines.  This was followed by a presentation by Amos Thiel on “Optimal Detoxing”.   He showed us all the organs of the body that help us eliminate…

Queensland Youth Camp – Boreen Point – May 2014

“Are You Connected” On Thursday, 24 April, many of those attending the Camp, “Are You Connected?” travelled from all parts of Queensland to the lovely setting in God’s creation at Boreen Point, QLD. The campground was set amongst trees next to a large, shallow inland lake. Some of the more adventurous boys “walked” across the entire lake which was 3.8km and canoed back as some towed a canoe across. The weather forecast was for storms, but we were grateful that…

Pacific Islands Leaders Meetings – Port Vila, Vanuatu

The Word of God is clear that the Gospel will be preached in all nations before the second coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven. It is of interest that the work of God in the island regions gets a special mention in Isaiah. 42:10-12  “Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants…

Solomon Islands Mission Conference & Health Outreach

Local tradition believes that the Solomon Islands are called by this name after King Solomon in the Bible. They say that he came there to gather some natural resources such as gold for the building of the temple. Solomon Islands is the newest Mission Field in our region being first opened by Br Jaksic a few years ago. We have one main church group situated on the main island about 40 kilometres away from the capital Honiara. We have…

Baptism of Timothy Barat – Victoria

On Sabbath, the 23rd of June, 2012, the clouds parted over Sunbury as we gathered to witness our brother Timothy Barat take his stand for Jesus. Members and friends from the local churches and the community gathered for the services at Maranatha Church, with baptism conducted in a river nearby, and followed by fellowshipment and refreshments in the inviting warmth of the meeting hall. A highlight of the day was the testimony which Timothy shared about how the Lord…
