Elizabeth Fisher’s Baptism

A large group of people gathered around the Swan River nearby our church to witness the beautiful baptism of Sr Elizabeth Fisher. Sr Elizabeth had envisioned her baptism being a living testimony of what Christ can do in the life and she invited as many people as she could to witness the event, including some new acquaintances she had only met weeks before. Family, neighbours, friends and church family were all present to hear her testimony and to see her be…

WA Children’s Camp

A children’s camp was held for the WA field over September 28-30. It was a very simple camp with tenting and simple morning and evening worships, interspersed with children’s activities throughout Sabbath and some practical kite making on Sunday morning. We had a little bit of adventure with Friday night blowing a gale and pushing around our tents and canopies. The morning dawned with intermittent rain. We huddled together with the fire barely keeping us warm. The Children had children’s…

Schofields Church Visitor’s Sabbath and Family BBQ

27th & 28th October 2018 What does your ideal church community look like? This question was asked in the Youth Focus night a few weeks prior to a special weekend planned for the 27th and 28th of October.  Some spoke of having the same purpose, of being there for each other; being a safe haven for all. Others spoke that church community means having a place where we can draw closer to God and help each other in the process. We continued…

A Call to Parents

A tiny girl was making mud pies in the back yard. She was giving herself whole-heartedly to the work, pressing and patting the little pies into shape and laying them out on a board in the sun to bake. She was completely absorbed in her task. It was the most important thing in the world!  Mother came to the door and called, “Betty! Come here.”  The little maiden never paused in her work, nor lifted her eyes, nor turned her…

Music Comes From the Soul

Paganini, the great violinist, came out before his audience one day and made the discovery just as they ended their applause that there was something wrong with his violin. He looked at it a second and then saw that it was not his famous and valuable one.   He felt paralyzed for a moment, then turned to his audience and told them there had been some mistake and he did not have his own violin. He stepped back behind the curtain…

Today is my Birthday

Today is my birthday. Unlike every other birthday I have ever had, I will experience this day without my mom.  She has been gone six months now, but it hurts as much as the day it happened. Every day I think about it. It haunts my existence. It makes me sad and makes me cry like I’ve never cried before.  Still, I am lucky.  My mom gave me the greatest gift someone can give to another: life. Unlike any other…

The Divine Human Family – Part 3

R. V. “Therefore…
