Guyana – Building Project

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.

To begin expressing our need, in the solemnity of the days we are living now, we want to borrow the pressing words of our Lord, which are found in the twenty-first chapter of the Gospel of Luke verse twenty-eight, He said: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Soon after our Lord finished unfolding the last scenarios of this world’s history, He admonished His disciples that when they see those things begin to happen, it would be the moment for them to stand and to pay close attention because their salvation would be drawing near. Those words have direct application to us, to our generation. There is no doubt that we are living in the last days. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” (Romans 13:11)

We have an ongoing building project that began a few years ago. We wish to finish this project by the end of this year, God willing. By the generous help of the brethren of the General Conference and the efforts of our minister, Br. Arnaldo Pedrosa, and his wife, Sis. Richel Pedrosa, who are now working in New Zealand, the mission acquired a parcel of land. They started to build the mission’s headquarters, but the work was never able to be finished due to insufficient finances. We now feel the necessity to complete this work. We need to 1) finish the walls 2) install windows, 3) tile the floor, 4) seal the speaking platform. Adding to that we need to build extra stairs to the top floor which will enable us to have more rooms for the children’s Sabbath School as well as rooms for the local missionary and missionary visitors.

We have recommenced our work on the building this year using the resources that we had gathered in years past. But little has been accomplished compared to what is left to be done. That is the reason why we appeal to the generosity of our brethren for help. We have a budget of USD $5,000 to finish the work. However, any amount the Lord might put in your heart to give is welcome to complete the work.

We realize that we might only be able to use this building for a few days, months or years that we have left in this world, as the signs of the times are indicating. But “[we] must work the works of him that sent [us], while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (John 9:4)
